The UC Merced campus and all university locations will be open Tuesday, Nov. 20. Campus services will return to normal hours of operation, with the exception of those services that have adjusted hours this week due to the holiday.
Classes remain canceled through the Thanksgiving break, and will resume Monday, Nov. 26. Tuesday’s basketball doubleheader on campus will take place as scheduled.
The air quality has improved today, and continued improvement is expected as rain develops through the week. Though forecasts still indicate “unhealthy” air for Tuesday, we do not expect to see the “very unhealthy” designation that has initiated the recent campus closures. It is only at the “very unhealthy” level that even healthy people, with no underlying lung or heart conditions, are advised to avoid outdoor activity.
Members of sensitive groups or those with underlying health conditions should consult with their supervisors regarding alternative work duties, or use sick time if needed. We will continue to monitor air quality ratings to ensure the health and safety of the campus community.
Those with questions about how the campus closure affects things like coursework, exams and employee pay should refer to this FAQ on the campus closure, or consult with their supervisors, faculty members or other campus officials as needed.
