Dear Campus Community,
UC Merced is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of the campus community. Annually, the UC Merced Police Department works with its campus partners to assemble this report to provide students, staff and faculty members and the community with information regarding campus security, fire safety, crime statistics, and alcohol and drug abuse prevention.
The campus’s 2018 Annual Security Report (ASR) is now online.
As required under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act, the report contains statistics from the previous three years (2015, 2016 and 2017) of crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings leased by UC Merced, or on public property immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus that were reported to local police agencies or other designated Campus Security Authorities (CSA), including housing staff, judicial affairs and faculty advisors for student organizations.
The Clery Act requires the following types of crimes to be reported:
- Criminal homicide
- Sex offenses
- Aggravated assault
- Robbery
- Burglary
- Motor vehicle theft
- Arson
- Stalking
- Domestic violence
- Dating violence
- Hate crimes
- Liquor, drug and weapons arrests and referrals
The Clery Act also requires the university to inform our community about the various programs, events and other efforts we take to improve safety, in addition to informing our community about the many resources, reporting options, and avenues we provide where help or more information can be obtained.
The 2018 Annual Housing Fire Safety Report is also now available online. This report is compiled by UC Merced’s Fire and Building Safety and is intended to disseminate important fire statistics and campus fire safety information for on-campus housing.
For more information or to request a printed copy of the Annual Security Report, call 209-228-8273. For a printed copy of the Annual Housing Fire Safety Report, call 209-228-4404.
